Prepaid or fixed cost healthcare may seem useless to some employers, but if you take a closer look, this could be more beneficial than you realize, as a business owner and as an employee.
Seattle-based Qliance Medical Management is offering a prepaid healthcare option and concept to businesses in the Pacific Northwest. What Qliance wants to do is improve quality of care at less the price and less time in the doctor’s office (or health care facility.
Although people are skeptical of what this plan can actually do, it’s beginning to catch on with some. In fact, at this moment, they have more than 2,500 patients in their system.
The idea behind this venture is that Qliance will provide medical care, seven days a week, not including hospitalization or medication. Most patients who use this service are already insured for those possibilities, but like the pre-paid option because it serves as a “gap” coverage and as preventive, primary care.
Qliance offers a flat-fee for “unrestricted, seven-day-a-week access” to one of its primary care physicians or nurse practitioner with a focus on the “medical home” concept (similar to the idea we’ve been preaching here at Workplace Health Services). Their fees range from $49 to $79 with speedy results, as you can visit the physician next day for urgent care if needed.
The medical home concept is a model with a low monthly fee added to insurance costs. It also gives patients more time with their doctor for better care, rather than waiting ridiculous amounts of time to see a doctor for a mere ten minutes.
This model also gives the doctor more time to analyze possible illnesses as well as a higher recovery rate from those illnesses. In the end, companies and families save money, and the patients are happier and healthier.
It’s an interest concept, but what do you think?

Provide healthcare. Pony up and do it. Every dollar you spend on employee healthcare is equal to $10 in pay in their minds. It say’s that you’re investing in their health and safety.
